It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved partner and friend, Edgar L. Thomas, M.D. Garee lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last Monday, April 14, 2008.
As one of the founding partners of Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group, Garee was an admired physician, surgeon, and pioneering innovator in ophthalmology. Through his skill, dedication and compassion, he touched the lives of many individuals throughout his amazing career. His legacy will have lasting impact, both in his contributions to medicine and family. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten by his family, partners, fellow physicians, friends, business associates, patients and staff here at Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group.
A private funeral service with interment in Florida has been scheduled for the family this week.
The family of Garee and the physicians and staff of Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group will be remembering Garee at a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The celebration will be held at the Moseley-Salvatori Conference Center of The Good Samaritan Hospital, 637 South Lucas Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.

Donations would be appreciated in Garee’s honor to advance and support the ongoing research efforts of Dr. William Isacoff, his oncologist. Dr. Isacoff is committed to raising funds and awareness for greatly under-funded and under-researched gastrointestinal cancers. There is a greater chance to prevent and cure these diseases with early diagnosis.
